It's Our Anniversary!!

Today is the 10 year anniversary of becoming engaged! We celebrate 3 anniversaries every year - when we started going out, got engaged and became married. It's just a coincidence that it also happens to be Halloween... Noel picked up the ring from the jewellers that day and couldn't wait to give it to me. He came in to see me at work and got down on one knee even though he was on crutches after his ankle reconstruction... how sweet!

Have been on a roll trying to get some stuff done this week... I finally moved my scrapping stuff upstairs... doesn't look all that great but it will do the trick until I get my room back.





Had to move my bookcases around to fit it all in so I ended up with books everwhere! They looked pretty cool piled up on the table so I took a photo:





We had Troy and Mandy around for dinner on Monday night.... had a great time chatting. The best part was seeing Noel so happy... he loves cooking and he was having so much fun creating what we were going to be eating. It was absolutely delicious as well!!



I finished my Christmas decorations for the 12 weeks of Christmas challenge at Embellished. I used a Kaiser Christmas Star mini album - instead of joining them all together I made them into individual hanging decorations. Love the way they turned out!!









Ok, gotta go and finish some more stuff.....

Procrastinating.......

The last few days have been a bit hectic but now I get tomorrow off...YAY!! I taught my first ever workshop on Saturday, it was so much fun! Met some great new people from Rocky and Biloela and had fun chatting, we even finished a little bit early! So here's a pic of the projects we did....



I also did a layout for Friday Night Live at Embellished. Kirsty's challenge was to do a layout on the theme of "Dreams can come true". Here's what I came up with...




This layout was inspired a bit by Donna Downey... Ali got me on to her blog... I love her use of paint and paper. I usually feel that I need to have colour on everything but I love her use of white so thought I'd give that a try. I love how this turned out.... I also used papers from the November kit for Embellished... it's absolutely gorgeous as always!

Later this week, Noel's family will be arriving to live with us until they buy their own house up here.... I so can't wait for them to get here!! But it means I lose my scrap room... so I am in the process of moving everything upstairs into our dining room. There's actually better lighting up there which is a good thing... but I've got a mess everwhere!!! Really must go and finish moving stuff.... but procrastination is my strong suit! LOL I will take a photo once it's all finished and looking nice... have to have it done tonight as Noel has invited some new work friends around for dinner tomorrow night!

A Whole Lot of Nothing

That's what I did today! Well, not totally, I did do some stuff but I usually work half a day at my paying job and I had the day off today! YAY!!

Have started another page in my art journal, will see if I can finish it before I go to the shop to teach my class tonight. It's funny, when it starts off I'm looking at it like it's not going to work, but after a few layers it tends to pull itself together. Apart from that I watched a bit of telly, surfed the net a bit and relaxed. Was so good not having something that I "had" to do.

What I'm reading at the moment....

I always need to read for a while before I go to bed or my brain won't stop ticking. This book is great... it's funny how something can be seen in one culture as scandalous while it's pretty much normal in another. It also reminds me of Saudi, I lived there for 3 years so it's nice to be reminded of things that were everyday over there. There are also parts of the book which have asterixes and an expanation of what a certain word or expression means, makes me kind of feel like I'm "cool" and "in the loop" because I already know what they mean. (ok, small things amuse me...)

Had so much fun yesterday starting off my art journal, here's what I came up with....
It's SO different to anything I've ever done before but I like it.




Started off doing this page for SuziBlu's weekly art journal assignments, and then wanted to keep going so I did this one..




It's a bit dark but I still like it. I ended up being covered with paint and stuff from the pastels, I've had 2 showers since and there's still stuff on my hands!

Well, gotta head off to the shop now, I have netball tonight AND I have to clean up the house for an inspection tomorrow so it could be a late night...

Excited about today!!

My first proper entry in my blog... how exciting!

I have been SO looking forward to today... it's my day off from everything so I just get to hang around the house. I'm going to go out though and buy some art supplies!! Now, I am so not an artist.. my drawings would look like something a kid has done, but I've been so inspired by a blog I found on Kirsty and Dee's blog. It's about making an art journal and not caring whether what is in it is good or bad.... so I'm off to get me some oil pastels.... never used them before so it should be interesting!! And luckily Spotlight is having a 20% off sale TODAY.... how great is that!!

I feel like I've been managing to get a bit done lately, I've actually done 2 layouts in the last 2 or 3 weeks! Now, that doesn't sound like a lot, but it is for me lately. Spare time seems to be in short supply over the last few months, but things are finally starting to look a bit better!! So here's a looksie at them....

The first layout is for Friday Night Live at Embellished, it's based on one of Ali's fabulous sketches. (She also took the photos in the Always Us layout!) Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but that second picture doesn't want to get any smaller... so I've given up on it.

I also teach card classes at the greatest Scrapbooking shop ever.... Embellished! I've started doing Christmas cards every week so here's a look at the last 2 classes I've done...

I finished working on another class yesterday which is also going to be an online class, so keep an eye out for it in the Embellished forum.
